Chapter 4
Chapter 4
I waved my phone, ready to dial, and didn’t back down for a second.
“What, you want to hit me? Come on, right here. I’m actually short thirty thousand to get through the National Day holiday!”
After saying that, I even leaned my face forward, gesturing for him to strike me directly.
The family saw that we weren’t falling for their threats or their posturing, and they were so angry their teeth ached.
“You just wait! You little brat, I’m going to your company tomorrow to tell them all about this!”
With that, the woman prepared to lead the whole family away.
However, right before they left, the Little Brat who had been held in the woman’s arms suddenly jumped down.
Taking advantage of my lack of focus, he slapped me hard on the thigh.
He even gave me a vicious scratch for good measure.
I looked down in pain, intending to push the child away.
His mother was one step faster, snatching the child back into her arms.
“Good boy! You even know how to help Grandma vent her anger!”
Not only did the family see nothing wrong with this, but they all looked at the precious grandson in the woman’s arms with pride and relief.
Seeing that he wasn’t going to be punished, the kid immediately made a face at me from his mother’s arms.
As if afraid I would do something to their little darling, the family hurried away like they were fleeing a crime scene.
Heh, did they think they could just run away?
The next day, I didn’t even go to work.
Timing it for when the kid got out of school, I ordered a bunch of fried chicken for delivery and left it at the door without picking it up.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before I heard the kid’s voice outside.
“Grandma, I want to eat that!”
Eat, eat, eat-you little brat. A nest of big thieves raised a little thief.
When I first moved in, I noticed that several of my neighbors never ordered takeout. Even if they did, they would open the door the second it arrived, even if they were in the middle of washing their hair and covered in soap suds.
Later, I found out why: this building was home to a nest of “thieves.”
That kid didn’t care if something belonged to his family or not. As long as he smelled something delicious, he would try to snatch it.
If any neighbor was ever mean to him, he would stake out their door and wait for their food to arrive so he could add some “special seasoning” to their delivery!
I looked through the peephole.
The Old Woman’s thieving eyes scanned the hallway to make sure no one was around before she stuffed the bag of fried chicken directly into the kid’s backpack.
“Sweetie, let’s eat this at home!”
Hmph, now I could relax.
Because I had added a little something “special” to that fried chicken as well.
I guaranteed that for whoever ate it, it wouldn’t be as simple as an upset stomach.
How dare you eat something belonging to the Living Dead?

After the Neighbor Borrowed My Life
Over the weekend, while I was out grocery shopping, someone shoved a red envelope into my hand.
Inside was a note: [Three years of your life have been borrowed. If you pass this on or drop...
