I was fuming at such shameless behavior.

“Don’t the families of those girls ever try to settle the score with them?”

This was the first time I had ever heard of a family so utterly devoid of scruples.

A woman appeared at the door, cradling a child around three years old.

“Would she dare? She’s just an outsider. If she tries to make a scene, I’ll be at her workplace in a heartbeat to raise hell! Girls like her are thin-skinned and care too much about their reputation!”

Immediately after, the younger woman let out a snicker of delight.

“Mom! You’re amazing. I’ll tell Xiangzi to go downstairs and set off some firecrackers!

“Oh, my precious son! Look at how your grandma got you a few more years of wealth and prosperity. You have to make sure you’re filial to her when you grow up!”

The woman’s words sent the Old Woman into fits of laughter as she cooed over her “darling grandson.”
