Chapters 4
Chapters 4
My husband has sat me down several times to talk. He says that since we’re DINKs and don’t have children, and because his income is so high, there’s no need for me to be so frugal.
I listen every time, but I continue to go my own way.
While my husband finds it exasperating, he attributes it to the limited perspective of a girl from the countryside. In his eyes, the more stingy, brother-obsessed, and unrefined I am-the more I’m obsessed with letting my natal family bleed me dry-the more it proves I’m honest and would never betray him.
So, he trusts me completely.
My husband’s performance in bed has been getting worse and worse. We barely even manage once a month.
On the rare occasion we do, it’s over in three seconds. A total waste of bathwater.
One day, my husband looked at my two younger brothers with envy in his eyes. “Your parents are certainly full of vigor,” he said. “To have two sons at their age.”
I replied, “Back where I’m from, everyone has to have sons. If you don’t, people talk behind your back. My parents were useless before; they couldn’t produce a son, which meant I couldn’t even hold my head up in the village. Fortunately, I finally have brothers now. Two of them, even.”
Speaking of which, I felt a twinge of pride.
Though I wasn’t entirely sure what I was so proud of.
But I gave birth to two little babies! I truly am a great contributor to this world.
“If I didn’t have my brothers, who would I spend my money on? My husband is so wealthy and generous, yet you don’t want children.”
As I spoke, I let a hint of sadness creep into my voice.
My husband hurried to reassure me. “If you like children, just take care of your brothers. I’ll look after them as if they were my own.”
My eldest brother is very close to us; he’s already in elementary school. I’ve raised him to be well-behaved and sensible.
He handed a peeled orange to my husband and me. “Brother-in-law,” he said to my husband, “thank you for paying my tuition and living expenses. When I grow up and can make money like you, I’ll buy you a big house and a private jet.”
My eldest brother currently attends an international bilingual school. His English is as fluent as a native speaker’s, and he’s also learning French. He participates in many sports, like golf and equestrianism.
He costs no less than a million yuan a year, and my husband pays for all of it.
Because my eldest brother usually behaves well and shows concern for my husband, it makes my husband feel his money is well-spent.
My second brother, who is now two years old, also ran over and threw himself into my husband’s arms.
“Brother-in-law, you work so hard,” he said in a milky voice. “Are you tired?”
As he spoke, he started massaging my husband’s shoulders. My eldest brother joined in too.
They had my husband absolutely charmed.
My husband laughed heartily as he held my two brothers. “Your two brothers certainly know how to look after people,” he said to me.
I smiled too.
When you teach them every day what to say and how to please adults, even a pig would learn. However, I have to admit that these two sons of mine are truly brilliant.
Not only do they have high emotional intelligence, but their IQs are high as well.
I still remember having a brain like a pig when I was a child; I’d forget what I learned the very next second. But my two sons have photographic memories.
Furthermore, they are both very composed and emotionally stable. I never emphasized those traits to them. But when they encounter a difficult problem, they don’t get frantic like a headless fly or lose their tempers like I do; instead, they think.
Critical thinking was something I only slowly learned after starting university. It was only by watching my classmates plan their futures that my brain finally started to turn, and even then, my planning was mediocre.
I can’t help but marvel-I really chose two sets of excellent genes. They’re also very handsome. Even if they weren’t smart, they could make a living on their looks alone.
My ‘best friend’ is the one who is a true high-society wife. I’m still just like a mouse, stealing from my husband’s house.
Having two children in the home added a lot of joy to our lives. My husband started getting restless again.
