Chapter 5

I counted the zeroes.

There were just too many.

What did I ever do to deserve this?

But I’m a good, obedient woman.

So I clamped my hand over my mouth and ran away in tears.

The moment I left the villa, I bumped into someone.

My husband always says I’m a woman as swift as the wind-I used to think he was joking.

Turns out, when I walk, I really do make a breeze.

When I was still a meter away from her, the woman in front of me suddenly let out a loud “thud” as she collapsed to the ground.

She clutched her stomach and started wailing.

“My stomach… my stomach…”

I pointed toward the bathroom.

“If your stomach hurts, just go to the restroom.”

She stayed doubled over in pain.

“You vicious woman, you did that on purpose! You ran right into me!”

“I’m carrying Brother Chen’s child, you know!”

Hearing the commotion, my husband rushed out of the house.

The moment he saw the woman on the ground, he threw himself at her side.

“Xue’er, are you all right? Xue’er, why are you sitting on the ground?”

Lin Xue’er’s eyes filled with tears.

“It was her-she purposely rammed into my stomach. She wants to kill our child, wuwuwu…”

So this was the woman pregnant with my husband’s child.

Well, then I should be more polite to her.

“Oh my, so you’re Xue’er?”

“Why would I ever want to hurt your baby? Honestly, if you don’t mind, I’d love to be the child’s godmother.”

“And actually, I’ve always wanted to ask you a question in person.”

“How did you manage to get pregnant with my husband’s child?”

This was just a little secret between women.

So I leaned in and whispered in her ear.

“My husband is diagnosed with azoospermia, so getting pregnant by him is like a miracle of modern medicine.”

“Sister, don’t keep all the tricks to yourself. Teach me how you pulled it off, will you?”

Lin Xue’er’s face went sheet-white.

She lunged at me and hugged me tightly.

“It’s okay, sister, I just tripped and fell because I wasn’t watching my step. Did I hurt you when I fell?”

Even though Lin Xue’er insisted it was nothing,

My husband still didn’t trust me.

He made me kneel and apologize to Lin Xue’er.

But before I could even move, Lin Xue’er dropped to her knees ahead of me.

“I’m sorry, sister-it was my fault. I wasn’t paying attention and tripped. Please forgive me.”

“You really didn’t hit me. I honestly just fell by myself. If you don’t believe me, there are security cameras-we can check the footage. Please, I’m begging you for a chance.”

After she finished, Lin Xue’er weakly collapsed right into my husband’s arms.

“Brother Chen, let’s go. I don’t want to see her anymore.”

My husband immediately followed her lead.

He pointed at me.

“You. Get out. I don’t want to see you ever again.”

Then Lin Xue’er added:

“We’ll be the ones to leave. I don’t want this 800-square-meter villa or the Maserati parked out front.”

“Any place she’s lived in… I don’t want.”

Turns out little sister has a thing for cleanliness. Can’t fault her for that-it’s a good habit.

My husband ground his teeth.

“Fine, we’ll leave.”

This villa is downtown-worth at least two hundred million.

That Maserati at the door? It’s less than a week old.

My husband is so generous.

Not only does he give me money, he gives me a house and a car.

And Xue’er is generous too.

She’s not only giving my husband a child, she’s giving him the rare joy of thinking he’s the father.
