Two people equally unlucky in life exchanged contact information.

Zhou Yanming spoke with a world-weary tone: “How many days do you think they’ll last?”

I replied with a numb expression: “Hopefully they can hold on for a month.”

We talked about a lot of things, from this couple who had broken up and gotten back together eight hundred times, to ourselves, and then to work.

“You work at a company in Taiheng Technology Park too?” He sounded a bit surprised.

I was taken aback: “Too?”

Zhou Yanming said, “I was recently transferred back there. If you’re free, let’s grab a meal sometime.”

The wedding was grand and beautiful-a happy ending for the lovers.

My best friend, in the end, still married her on-again, off-again boyfriend.

I felt a little melancholy.

And after the wedding banquet, I went back to being a noble, single, hardworking office worker.

The next time I saw Zhou Yanming was on a Friday night not long after.

Our department had just landed a big deal, and the director waved his hand and said we should go out for a team dinner.

The dinner was at a lively bar and restaurant-good for eating, drinking, and playing around.

Everyone got hyped up, and in the end, we all ended up dancing in the club area.

The director, a man in his thirties, was surprisingly agile on the dance floor. Afterward, he bragged to the younger guys and girls:

“Your sister-in-law was captivated by my dance at the school anniversary back in the day. Young people really need to move their bodies more.”

I had just sat down when a colleague suddenly nudged me with her elbow: “Sister Yuan, isn’t that handsome guy over there staring at you?”

?

I followed her gaze and met a pair of familiar, alluring eyes.

When he saw me notice him, the man raised his hand and greeted me.

Zhou Yanming.

Tonight, he was wearing a black shirt, every gesture exuding a kind of bad-boy charm.

During the years Li Qingyi and Xu Shaoting were dating, I’d heard Zhou Yanming’s name quite a few times.

I’d thought he’d be similar to Xu Shaoting, but now I realized they were completely different types.

“Sister Yuan, I noticed that handsome guy earlier. He was watching you the whole time you were dancing. Turns out you know each other,” my colleague chuckled. “I thought he’d fallen for you at first sight.”

?

I felt a faint sense of social death.

Our seats were pretty far apart, so I didn’t go over to Zhou Yanming, and he didn’t come over either.

Given our limited acquaintance, just saying hello when we ran into each other outside was already pretty good.

I looked away.

But soon, a commotion broke out in the crowd.

I looked over.

I saw that black-clad figure pick up a guitar and head to the live music spot. After a brief exchange, the singer gave up his spot.

The sound of guitar strings came first.

Then, a slightly deep male voice started singing, carrying a hint of lazy charm.

It was quite captivating.

It was a well-known English rock song, but Zhou Yanming’s voice gave it a seductive edge.

I looked up at him, and from the reactions of those around, it was clear how attractive he was.

The dim lighting only added to the sense of mystery about him.

My colleague summed it up perfectly: “This guy singing and playing guitar is like an aphrodisiac-he just gives off the vibe that he’d be amazing in bed.”

I covered her mouth: “Keep it down! How does singing a song have anything to do with the bedroom?”

She just grinned: “He’s so hot.”

…

Well, she wasn’t wrong.

A lot of girls at the scene were clearly smitten. When the song ended, quite a few people were itching to go up and talk to him.
