Chapter 4

I took up residence in the Prime Minister’s Mansion.

During our conversations, Mujin would casually ask many questions about our childhood. I answered them one by one, and with each response, he became more certain of my identity.

He began showering me with gifts: clothes, jewelry, properties, shops… he provided everything imaginable.

Yet, whenever his gaze fell upon me, it was always tinged with a sense of trance-like sorrow.

The Danmaku commented:

[The sister appeared too late. If she had shown up a few years earlier, the villain might not have treated the female lead as his only salvation in life.]

[The way Mujin is acting, it feels like he’s settling his final affairs.]

[He wants to arrange everything for his sister before he dies, and then give his life back to the female lead!]

[Oh my god, Mujin fell into the water! …He clearly knows how to swim, so why isn’t he moving? Is he trying to use this chance to just die?]

My heart skipped a beat. I dropped my chopsticks and bolted out the door.

I dove headfirst into the lotus pond. After swimming across more than half the pond, I finally found my brother beneath a stalk of lotus. He was drowning and unconscious.

Exerting every ounce of strength I had, I finally managed to drag him back to shore.

But my brother’s body was too weak. That very night, he developed a high fever, his breath becoming as thin as a thread.

Several doctors were summoned, but all were at their wits’ end.

Finally, gritting my teeth and following the guidance of the Danmaku, I found the female lead, Su Lan, at a medical clinic.

After listening to my frantic plea, her expression turned cold, and she narrowed her eyes. “What is your relationship with Mujin?”

“I am his sister,” I said. “My name is Mu Sui.”

Su Lan’s expression softened, as if realizing I posed no threat.

“In that case, I will go with you.”

I was in the middle of feeding the pigs in my village when I suddenly saw a Danmaku.

[Is this bystander the villain’s younger sister?]

[She still thinks she’s an orphan....
