Chapter 2
Chapter 2
When I opened my eyes again, unsurprisingly, I was lying on the marriage bed I shared with Gu Jingshen.
The curtains were tightly drawn, leaving the room in dim twilight. The bedside clock read Wednesday, April 20th, 15:10.
I was back again.
I silently summoned the System data in my mind, and a line of white characters floated before my eyes:
[Marriage Reconciliation Success Rate: 33.33%]
With vacant eyes, I picked up my phone, unlocked the screen, and scrolled through my inbox and social media accounts.
My chat log with Gu Jingshen consisted of nothing but my one-sided attempts at warmth and concern.
As for my social media account-for seven years, I had used it to post daily life updates and idle thoughts that no one cared about. It was merely a product of my loneliness, with only a single bot follower who liked every post.
Still, it was better than confiding in my husband; he was like a valley that never returned an echo.
In my latest post, I had documented my trip to Jingdu to visit a long-retired artisan to commission a pair of custom cufflinks for Gu Jingshen.
In the post, I couldn’t hide my excitement. After all, he was Gu Jingshen’s favorite craftsman.
He liked them so much that every time he signed a Divorce Agreement, he was wearing them.
Today was my wedding anniversary with Gu Jingshen-and quite likely our last.
Everything had begun before this Rebirth System started operating.
Jiang Wan returned to the country, and Gu Jingshen, disregarding seven years of marital sentiment, demanded a divorce. Distraught, I had wandered out of the house and was struck and killed by a speeding truck in the pouring rain.
When I opened my eyes again, I had returned to the time before the divorce.
I had loved Gu Jingshen since I was seventeen. It was the only thing I knew how to do, and the only thing I refused to give up on.
Perhaps God was playing a trick on me, or perhaps He was giving me a chance to make Gu Jingshen truly love me.
But…
“How do you win back a man who is determined to get a divorce? I’ve tried almost every method possible.”
I posted a new update, clicked the screen off, and let out a deep sigh.
I walked into the kitchen and took various ingredients that Gu Jingshen liked out of the refrigerator. I had just placed them in the sink when I stopped.
I remembered that in the original timeline, I had started preparing dinner at this exact time, but he hadn’t come home until the food was stone cold.
Gu Jingshen had completely forgotten about our anniversary. Back then, I had been depressed for quite a while because of it.
What was the point of doing the same things now?
At that moment, my phone chimed with a notification.
A new private message had appeared in my inbox.
Professor Jiang’s Assistant: “Have you considered consulting a professional?”
Hm… a professional?
